WordsAhead wants YOU to become a speech sounds expert. You can learn how to provide a sound foundation for understanding and speaking English. Your language learning and teaching can be organized around speech sounds, not the English alphabet [A --> B --> C ]. An auditory focus on numbered vowels and consonants will create skills in sound-parsing and sound-blending for precise pronunciations and spellings. The quality and quantity of audiovisual input matters. Nullify the problems of sounding-out alphabet letters. Stop memorizing sight spelling words. Retire inconsistent phonics and spelling rules. Begin teaching how to spell and read speech sounds! Spelling tests will contain actual words-to-be-read. Word lists are organized to test student mastery of an author's entire vocabulary prior to any attempt by the student to discover meaning within the context of the message. Systematic encoding, ahead-of-time, will presage continued confidence as all learners become ready to discuss, comprehend, and evaluate increasingly difficult reading assignments. Language competence will obviously add value to your comprehension activities. WordsAhead is a noncommercial venture which, nonetheless, intends to tip the educational institution right-side-up. Even with recent costly and heroic efforts, too many learners continue to fail. Now we can preempt reading remediation by requiring prerequisite reading readiness. At any educational level, students who struggle to speak will have trouble reading, and thus remain ill-prepared. They rightly feel they aren't able to succeed because they aren't up-to-speed. These students deserve a better chance. Are you willing to consider the WordsAhead option? Whenever parents, tutors, and educators are motivated by a spirit of mindful inquiry and cooperation, we will aspire and can inspire. As life-long learners, we will keep an open mind and can stay on task to encourage greater achievement. The further we go the less we know; language is the vehicle with which we share our thoughts about the journey. Questions? Please contact Judy Ramirez: |
